Il nome, che significa fil di ferro in italiano, deriva dall’espediente che i distillatori clandestini avevano ideato per nasconderlo dalle guardie regie: il trucco consisteva nel seppellire le scorte legandole con un fil di ferro che fuoriusciva dalla terra, per segnalare che in quel punto si celava il prodotto illegale. È un distillato di vinacce, con un profumo che richiama le erbe mediterranee.
Its name, which is literally translated into English as "iron thread", comes from the expedient used by clandestine distillers to hide this spirit from the King's guards. They would bury their stocks, leaving just a piece of wire above the ground as a marker of the hidden illegal product. It is a spirit distilled from marc, with a fragrance that recalls the Mediterranean herbs.
